A globe valve is a linear motion valve used to start, stop, and regulate flow in a pipeline. It gets its name from the spherical shape of the valve body.
How It WorksThe valve uses a movable disc (plug) that moves up and down perpendicular to the flow path.
The disc fits into a seat to stop the flow. Raising the disc allows flow; lowering it restricts or stops flow.
The flow path changes direction inside the valve body, often causing a pressure drop.

Valve Body & Trim – the “flow path” parts: seat, plug (or disc/ball), stem etc. Determines how the fluid flows, leakage, wear etc.
Actuator – Pneumatic: could be a diaphragm + spring, or piston with springs. Single‑acting (spring return) or double‑acting (air both ways).
Positioner (optional but common) – receives a control signal (e.g. pneumatic, or electro‑pneumatic, or even digital) and adjusts air to the actuator so that the valve plug reaches the correct position. Helps with precision and overcoming issues like friction or changes in load.
Signal Source & Control System – typically the controller sends a 3‑15 psi or 0.2‑1 bar pneumatic or 4‑20 mA electrical signal (if electro‑pneumatic) which is converted to pneumatic pressure for the actuator/positioner.

A globe valve is a type of linear motion valve used to start, stop, and regulate the flow of fluid in a pipeline. It has a disc or plug that moves toward/away from a stationary seat, inside a generally globe‑shaped body. Because of their design, globe valves are especially good at throttling (partially opening) flow.
Key parts:
Body with inlet and outlet ports, often with a bonnet on top through which the stem passes.
Seat ring (stationary) inside the body against which the disc seals.
Disc / plug (movable) connected to a stem.
Stem & Handwheel / Actuator to move the disc.
Bonnet (bolted, screw‑in, pressure‑seal etc.) encloses the moving parts.
Packing / Gasket around stem to avoid leakage.

A Cast Iron Sluice Valve, also commonly known as a Cast Iron Gate Valve, is a type of industrial valve used primarily for on/off service to control the flow of fluids (liquids or gases) in pipelines. It operates by raising or lowering a gate or wedge-shaped disc, which slides perpendicularly to the direction of fluid flow.
How it Works:
When the valve is fully open, the gate is completely lifted out of the fluid path, providing an unobstructed flow and minimal pressure drop. When fully closed, the gate is lowered to block the flow completely, providing a tight shut-off. The movement of the gate is typically controlled by a handwheel, lever, or an actuator (electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic).
